    A couple of days

Since the last post I have evened the score at racket ball to 5 games a piece, had the three most awful skiing lessons of my life and won a couple of dollars at "shut the box."

I have a general rule about writing when drunk, this rule is 'keep it short.' I shall endeavor to do so.

Some crazy stuff is happening out here, but what with the snow, and the chance to ski as fast as I can through tree filled slopes in a t-shirt, I am neither bothered nor interested. Perhaps i shall write about that later.

Coming soon: the arrival in the US story, and whatever the hell that strange American was saying to me in the bar...

Whadup dog, you must be practicing for da park, coz you damn carved up that cake homie!

    More interesting

Things are starting to look up activity wise now, since the last post I had two games of racquetball. One win, one loss to Tom, so the score is 4-4...

Went shopping today, what is it about the female mind that is so different to the male with regards to shopping?

I needed socks, so I went into the shop and bought them, time elapsed: 5 minutes.
I waited for the girls to pick up their items. Time elapsed? 55 minutes.

In fact, with all this time waiting, I accidentally bought whisky and wine!

OK, I say "accidentally" but I had to walk down the road, into another shop, and show photo ID to do so, but my point still stands.

Then on to Greg's, where I learned to play golf. It is all, apparently, in the thumbs.

Now I'm tired, and I'm going to bed.

As for the gossip.... I'd probably better not elaborate!

    let's start writing again!

An official announcement: I intend to start writing again.

Yes, I know. I keep trying and managing about a week, but this time I might actually have something to write about!

For those of you who do not know, I am in the USA working as a ski instructor, and have been since early January. I will flesh out the details later, but for now I will let that suffice. Last night involved beer and poker, and I am completely knackered, so I am taking a day off from skiing. As you can imagine, most days are fairly interesting and or hectic, but today counts as my day of rest. So, for your reading pleasure; what I achieve when I am not working or skiing for a day:

    Wake up.
    Hit snooze.
    Repeat x6.
    Get up.
Realise water is frozen in toilet.
    Close window.
Eat slice and a half of BBQ chicken pizza.
Worry about how long you can store chicken for at room temperature.
    Throw away rest of pizza.
Eat whole tub of Ben and Jerrys.
    Read webcomics.
    Talk to Nix.

As you can see gentle reader, I am living the dream, USA style!

Now I'm tired, and I'm staying in bed.

    Shoes or the Pub conversation.

Or neither indeed. Today is a homage.

To Bath. To the University. To Friends. To those who made my life, my years, my time in Bath that little bit better.

I do not over state my position when I say that there are some people who just make the world better. Perhaps I even understate it. Everyone that I know who I would consider a friend improves my world at the very least, and I hope many others. Those who I merely have fleeting contact with I hope do the same for someone.

Thank you all. In the sincerest way.

I leave Bath tomorrow. Today even.

In a way my heart is heavy. In another it soars. I lose those who have made me, but I see them leave to inspire and bring others to new heights.

I have been formed and changed by my years at Bath. There are things that I regret, things that I treasure. Right now... I would not change a thing.

Now I'm tired, and I'm going to bed.

    Not shoes

Today was going to be a diatribe on shoes, but what with graduation of friends and a few drinks... it is not.

Mud: Just a consequence of Glastonbury, or something much much more.

Mud contains much, much aluminium. So much, in fact, that the metal is a serious competitor for most common metal in the earths crust.

Mud is also an acronym, a TLA in fact, for Multi-User-Dungeon. This term is falling out of use however, when compared to the more popular MMORPGs.

Someone covered in mud could be described as 'mudded.' If, I suppose, the mud had arrived by deliberate means. Perhaps otherwise the more usual muddy would be more appropriate and accurate.

Now I'm slightly drunk, and I'm going to bed.

    Tah-Dah!

Greetings one and all, and welcome back. This post is brought to you through an interesting idea born of pub conversations, boredom, and the desire to start writing again.

And more directly by being bullied by Kieran and Nix.

Essentially, each of myself, Kieran, Fred and Ben will write on a series of topics over the next four days, covering the same subject areas. (I will make sure I have all the blogs linked in the sidebar tomorrow.)

So, without further ado, I bring you... Underwear.

Clearly, this particular garment comes in manifold shapes, sizes and forms. There is even disagreement over what, exactly, constitutes underwear. Socks for example, sure, they are worn underneath shoes, but does this make them underwear in itself? I for one say no. And furthermore will make no attempt at justification, other than to say that I also do not consider a t-shirt underwear.

But, getting to what one might describe as the meat of the point, I intend to briefly (If you will excuse the semi-pun) discuss the noble bra.

Yes, the bra, nemesis of many a young fellow's fumbling fingers, finding themselves foiled by the finicky clasp. While one can improve in this particular department with practice, this undergarment retains a certain mystique, at least for those of the male persuasion. Its job can be to conceal, to enhance, to obscure or to flaunt. Some have decoration, and some are utilitarian, bizarrely some are plain, with a random bow. I was recently introduced to a kind of strapless bra, which has loops in it, so you can put on straps. However, one aspect which can be mildly perturbing still, is when one is in a shop selling these items, and one look sat the sheer variety of sizes the things come in. It seems improbable that they are all needed. Some I could happily use as a hammock, others I might be more comfortable storing two large eggs in. Now I am aware that human beings come in all shapes and sizes, but still...

Anyway, I appear to be losing my direction, thrust and point somewhat, so rather than exhausting myself in one great burst now, I shall wrap up, so as to have enough creative energy to make a worthwhile post tomorrow, as I scrape the metaphorical rust from the dubious edged instrument that is my creative brain.

    Lies, damn lies, and edPsych

So, first lecture today: Some educational psychologist talking about Gifted and Talented, GnT for short.

We spent a great deal of time listening to many, many words. They were seemingly connected with GnT, but curiously, toward the end of the lecture, between three of us, no one could actually think of anything she had said.

Well, she had said lots of things, but no actual problems, or concepts, or useful material was discussed. She had asked some questions, mouthed some platitudes, but when it came down to it, not said anything.

The next lecture was on how to get a job...

That is happening right now... wonder how it is.

Now I'm bored. To the pub!
